Today, students performed poems they have previously analysed to the class. When they were studying the poems, they looked for rhyme, rhythm, imagery, stanzas and figurative language.
Students practiced performing poetry by changing the volume of their voices, pitch, speaking in unison, and adding actions.
Students are preparing to write their “Proud to be Me,” poems, which they will be performing for assembly. This will allow them to think about how they will perform their poems, as they are writing them!
Also, as part of working at home, we ask the children to aim to build their tables skills, by completing at least 1 sound check a day, while earning at least 400 points a week.
Last Friday, we tested out our skills with print making! We tried relief and impression techniques. Children found it to be fun, but a little messy. We will continue to practice our printing skills for the rest of the term.
Our termly focus is nature, so we decided to give that theme to our prints. You will see some plants, animals, bugs (and maybe some blobs).
Year 4 are embarking on an exciting adventure! Path to Paris is the offical youth engagement programme for the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games. It is an amazing way for young people to get active and embark on a virtual journey all around the world
Getting active means anything that makes you breathe a little faster and start to feel a little warmer. We will be logging our physical activities, starting in Athens in Greece, the birthplace of the modern Olympic Games, before travelling to Rome to learn about the origins of the Paralympic Games arriving finally in Paris for this year’s Olympic Games. Any physical activities logged, translates into virtual kilometres powering us on our journey.
We invite you to join in and log any activities your family participates in, to power the team buses by petrol as they are ‘Powered by Perspiration’ and ‘Accelerated by Activity’. It is the active minutes that drive the team buses all the way to Paris! We can get to Paris even faster by getting active with friends and family at home.

Yesterday, we continued our study of maps by using areal maps! These are great tools to allow children to practice using symbols so they can represent objects in space.
We drew a map of the classroom, and then took the lesson outside as part of #outdoorclassroom day. The initiative encourages children to experience outdoor learning and play. Giving children an opportunity to learn outdoors allows them interact with their environment, using the skills they’ve learned in the lesson.
